In recent seasons, Marcos GTs have been class and overall winners in the European Historic GTS Championships, the 1965-made Marcos coupe offered being one of the most successful cars in the category. Specially prepared for international GTS events, it has been raced in England and Europe each year since being totally restored in readiness for the 1997 season.
Body, doors, bonnet and bootlid are all lightweight items. The Volvo 1780cc 4-cylinder engine has been specially developed to produce a wide torque range with power at least equivalent to its main Marcos rivals. Engine spares and specialist performance components for this motor are readily available from a number of sources, primarily in England, Sweden and the USA. Suspension and running gear spares can be easily sourced.
Last season, this car was the fastest Marcos at Dijon, Donington, Silverstone and Snetterton - and, despite competing in only four of the nine rounds of the HSCC Classic Sports Car Championship, the car was 5th in the series and won the class against nine other Marcoses.
The engine has done less than one hour's racing, the 4-speed manual gearbox and transmission are reportedly in good order, and body and blue paintwork are said to be good. Included is one complete spare Salisbury limited slip differential, plus one set of extra gear ratios, so gearing can be `tuned' for the different characteristics of the circuits being tackled. A spare engine may be available by separate negotiation with the vendor.
