Reliant's October 1984 launched, Scimitar-badged 'Small Sportscar 1' was aimed at filling the market gap vacated by the MG Midget. According to the Uttoxeter lady entrant of this 1988-manufactured Scimitar SS1 1800ti sportscar with soft and hardtops, she is only the second owner.
The overall condition of the Tamworth-built and Michellotti-styled car is excellent, she says, turbocharger and exhaust having been renewed. There is a roll-over bar for weekend competition and a radio-cassette player and an immobilizer for the street. Running on unleaded and good for 30mph, the 69,850 mileage indicated when entered is believed to be the genuine total. Chassis and both GRP bodywork and gold and yellow paintwork are reportedly good, with 1.8-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged Nissan motor in good order and 5-speed manual gearbox excellent.
This open or closed top sports really is a car for all seasons and should be able to provide the next owner with a fun set of wheels for the occasional sprint or hill climb as well as being entirely practical for everyday commuting and shopping. Looking at the estimate, it could be good value too.
