- One family owned for the majority of its life, UK Registered with V5

- £12,000 interior restoration to correct specification in 2019

- Described as excellent overall by vendor and said to drive superbly

This truly splendid lefthand drive period Caddy has remained in the same family ownership for the majority of its 100 year existence, and comes with paperwork relating to its registration in the state of Massachusetts. It is immaculately presented in Black and Green livery, that's complemented by a sumptuous pleated Green cord interior that has only just been restored at a cost of £12,000. Featuring a bench front seat, full width rear chair, plus a pair of occasional ones, this commodious Sedan could accommodate up to eight occupants. The luxurious surroundings include cushions for the rear seats and pull-down blinds in all related windows. The car rides on Coker-refurbished artillery wheels and carries a pair of spare rims/tyres affixed to its rear bulkhead. It is powered by a flathead V8 of 3.3 litres, and the vendor informs us this wonderful item of Americana 'drives superbly', and in his opinion the bodywork, paintwork, upholstery, engine and four-speed manual transmission are all in 'excellent' order - and so it would appear. 'BF 8445' is being sold at 'No Reserve'.

Introduced in 1914 as a replacement for the four-cylinder Model 30, the large, luxurious Type 51 will be remembered as one of the first production cars to be powered by a mass-produced V8 engine - a technological advance that created invaluable kudos for the Cadillac marque. The similar Types 53, 55, 57, 59 and 61 carried the design through to 1923, when it was considerably updated to create the Type V63. The Type 51 and all related versions were powered by a new 90-deg V8 of 5154cc, that featured L-heads and produced some 31bhp. The unit was allied to a three-speed manual transmission. The Type 57 variant was in production between 1917 and 1919 and distinguished itself when chosen to ferry America's military top brass during The Great War.
