The last year in which Ford's iconic pony car would escape being saddled with mandatory federal '5mph impact' bumpers, 1972 also represented the penultimate season of first-generation Mustang production. Equipped with independent front suspension, a 'live' rear axle and power brakes, they majored on comfort over handling. Though, the Mach I versions still boasted very respectable straight-line speed
Finished in red with white interior, this particular left-hand drive example is fitted with a 302ci (5 litre) V8 engine mated to three-speed automatic transmission. Reportedly the subject of a "major restoration some years ago in Blackpool", it benefits from a "detailed engine bay, alloy wheels, power steering and power top". Said to "sound awesome with sports exhaust", it is believed but not warranted to have covered 99,000 miles from new. Qualifying for historic class (free) road tax, this cult convertible is offered for sale with MOT certificate current until December 13th 2005.
