The Capri was Ford of Europe's interpretation of their US parent company's Mustang, a 4-seater coupe with choice of engine, first with 1300 or 1600cc in-line 4-cylinder, then 2000 V4 or 3000cc V6. Later RS Capris had 150bhp V6s underbonnet. Front discs were standard for all Capris. A Mk2 hatchback shell appeared in 1974 and a 4-headlamp Mk3 during 1978. The final Capri came off the Ford Cologne line in 1986.
On offer here is a 1983-manufactured Capri Cabaret 1.6-litre in metallic blue and silver with grey interior, sunroof, boot-mounted spoiler and radio. According to the Cheshire vendor, the overall condition of bodywork, paint, trim, 1593cc 4-cylinder motor and 4-speed manual gearbox is good. The history file is full, he says, with handbooks and manuals as well as all 16 previous MOT test certificates, whilst the 19,870 miles displayed when entered for this sale is claimed to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new. It has MOT and tax in place until and including next January.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
