Italian Quatro Foglio, 1979. This film was a biopic of the life of Juan-Miguel Fangio made by Hugh Hudson in 1979 and went on limited release in 1980/81. Features a fabulous image of Fangio in a Maserati 250F below what many people consider to be apparently anachronistic images at the top of the poster. The reason for this, and the films limited release were that Hudson found Fangio's reminiscences to sugary to be realistic and so he intercut Fangio's comments with footage of some of the most horrific racing shunts dating right up to 1979. The film was shelved when the British censor asked for some of the footage, particularly the 1955 Le Mans scenes, to be cut which Hudson refused to do. Publicity material for this film is therefore very rare and the majority of it is Argentinean or Italian. Originally printed in two pieces, now linen backed and in very good condition. 210x150cm
