Lot details
Registration No: EVU152C
Chassis No: AM10110039
Mot Expiry: Oct 2004

The Giulio Alfieri engineered 3500GT was powered by a 3486cc twin overhead cam, straight six derived from that used in the firm's 1957 350S sports-racer. 2+2 coupe bodywork was standard and there was the option of a shorter convertible. Disc brakes became standard from 1960 and, from 1961, triple Webers were dropped in favour of Lucas fuel injection and the 3500 became the 3500 GTI.
The 1962 launched Sebring was a short wheelbase 3500GTI aimed primarily at the American market and, unlike their great rivals Ferrari, air-con and auto-shift options were offered for Maserati's Stateside clients from 1962 to 1966, a total of 444 being sold, lots of them in the US.
The 1965-manufactured Maserati Sebring 3500 GTI on offer was first registered in Norfolk, Virginia, the first owner being record producer Frank Guida, now aged 83, who confirmed to the previous owner that the low mileage (said to be only 32,353 when entered) was likely to have been the genuine total mileage from new.
We understand that following the car's acquisition in Italy, the then owner carried out a full restoration. The Vignale-styled bodywork is reportedly still excellent, the red paint very good and interior has been retrimmed in magnolia leather. The 3.5-litre 6-cylinder engine is good, having been rebuilt, he says, and both 5-speed ZF and tyres are good too. This really good looking Italian, which qualifies for a duty-exempt road fund licence, awaits your bidding.
