This is a genuine left-hand drive, Peugeot 205 Rallye. The 3-door hatch with 103bhp engine was a limited edition model produced specifically to enable the French manufacturer to gain FIA homologation for national and international event participation.
This example was obviously very well prepared for the 2002 World Cup Rally as it finished an impressive fourth overall, as well as winning its class and being a member of both the manufacturers and club team prizes. Since then, we hear that it has been fully serviced and is said again to be ready for road or special stage rallies. It has been fitted with a full roll cage, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, rally bucket seats, full harness safety belts, Brantz tripmeter to assist in accurate navigation, twin spare wheels and both engine sump and petrol tank protection guards.
The owner describes the condition of bodywork as being good, white paintwork and grey interior fair, and 1294cc 4-cylinder engine and 5-speed gearbox in good order. The 118,400 kilometres displayed when entered is reckoned to be the genuine total.
