Lot details
Registration No: 9395 KW
Chassis No: 232497
Mot Expiry: April 2006

More widely admired than any other Jaguar saloon, the MKII now seems synonymous with the 1960s. Leaner looking than its MKI forbear, the reduced girth of its A, B and C posts not only gave occupants a far airier glasshouse but also presented onlookers with a rather more elegant shape. Built as a monocoque, it featured independent coil-sprung front suspension, a well-located 'live' rear axle and all round disc brakes. Available in 2.4 litre, 3.4 litre and 3.8 litre guises, the larger-engined variants soon became known as capable sports saloons. A reputation underscored by their racing siblings' numerous track victories against assorted Mini Cooper and Ford Galaxies etc opposition. Although, slower on paper, the 3.4 litre cars nonetheless boasted some 210bhp and 216lbft of torque whose output was more than sufficient to ensure a circa 120mph top speed and spirited acceleration especially when fitted with the desirable four-speed plus overdrive manual gearbox.
Entered from a private collection along with three other cars for today's sale the example from Coventry on offer here is finished in Dark Blue with the complimentary red leather interior. It has that 'almost must have' manual four speed with overdrive transmission and although the mileage can't be warranted by the owner because he does not know for definite, he does truly believe that the 95102 miles could be correct from new.
Currently MOT tested until April this year, it is an original right hand drive car with wire wheels and described as being in good condition throughout. An everyday useable car with power steering, halogen lights, central locking, inertia reel seat belts, an alternator and XJ6 discs and callipers it also comes with the cherished registration number 9395 KW which has been left on the car.
A truly genuine car with bags of potential and a specification that enables it to be used everyday or for showing and rallies - or of course both!
