The Z31 chassis designation was first introduced in 1983 as a Datsun/Nissan 300ZX and this continued until 1985 when Nissan standardised their brand name worldwide and dropped the Datsun badge. Designed by Kazumasu Takagi and his team of developers, the 300ZX improved aerodynamics and increased power when compared to its predecessor, the 280ZX. The newer Z-car had a drag coefficient of 0.30 and was powered by Japan's first mass-produced V6 engine instead of an I6. According to Nissan, "the V6 engine was supposed to re-create the spirit of the original Fairlady Z" and through 1984 and 1985 the showroom stock 300ZX captured wins on numerous occasions. It scored its only Trans Am win in 1986 at Lime Rock with Paul Newman for Bob Sharp Racing but following development through 1987, the car would become dominant in IMSA GT in 1988.

The exceptional example we have for you here is the last of the line of this 'classic' shape and is fast becoming a collectors item. It dates from 1989 and is the exceptionally rare 2+2 Targa roof model. The glorious paintwork is finished in blue, a lighter almost powder blue shade, and the interior is in unmarked grey velour. The 2960cc six cylinder engine is connected to the automatic transmission and it comes with alloy wheels.

Complete with a current MOT test until February 2008 this is a very rare car that is fun to drive and in superb condition throughout.
