We are delighted to offer here a highly significant 1964-dated Atilla. The MkIII sports-racing car being built by former airline pilot and marque creator Roy Pierpoint in his Atilla Cars workshops for racing customer Pat Havendon. It was next run by Jim O'Flaherty and then by N J Leake from 1981, before being acquired in 1992, via race driving journalist Mark Hales, by Bill Hall, who, in turn, sold it on to the current owner in 2000.
The chassis and open sports-racing bodywork, which is painted in blue and white, are said currently to be in good condition. The Chevrolet 5-litre V8 engine, which has done zero miles since having been dynometer run in October 2002, has been rebuilt with numerous new parts fitted. Whilst the LG500 4-speed gearbox has been rebuilt with crown wheel and pinion renewed by JP Gearboxes in February 2003.
This historically interesting competition car is in receipt of the FIA papers that are essential for entry into top flight retro category racing. It is eligible for Group IV events, the Guards Trophy, HSCC meetings and popular Cloth Cap run races. It gave the owner a run in the 2002 British Grand Prix historic support race. Also included are the original body moulds, whilst a successful bidder may wish to avail themselves of continued on-going preparation away from the tracks as well as race support in the paddocks.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
