Introduced at the March 1995 Geneva Motor Show, the MG F was the first 'clean sheet' design to wear an octagon badge in thirty-three years. Penned by Gerry McGovern, its two-door monocoque chassis was equipped with Hydragas independent suspension, rack and pinion steering and four-wheel disc brakes. Powered by a transversely mid-mounted 1.8 litre K-series DOHC four-cylinder engine mated to five-speed manual transmission, the MG F could be had in various states of tune varying from 120bhp (standard) to 143bhp (VVC model). Outselling the likes of the Mazda MX-5, BMW Z3 and Toyota MR2, it soon became Britain's most popular sports car.
Finished in black with grey leather / cloth upholstery and a white factory hardtop, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in "clean and tidy" (interior trim), "good" (five-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment), "fine" (bodywork), "good for a track car" (paintwork), "first class" (1796cc engine, wheels / tyres) or "excellent" (chassis) condition. First registered to the MG Rover Group on 20th November 2000, 'X934 KOX' is said to have been used by the Works for a variety of MG Car Club sprints and hillclimbs (as well as various MG Owner's Club events). Apparently the last competition prepared factory MG to be auctioned off by the liquidators earlier this year (albeit only by a matter of minutes), the F is stated to benefit from "an uprated engine, brakes, suspension, full roll cage, six-point driver's seat harness and fire extinguisher system". Reportedly praised by an ARDS rated instructor during a recent Donington track day for "doing everything very, very well", the MG has covered a mere 9,860 miles from new. Riding on six-spoke alloy wheels shod with low profile tyres, 'X934 KOX' is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until May 12th 2007 and road tax until January 31st 2007. Well suited to track day or light competition usage, this handsome and historic MG promises thrills aplenty.
