The Millbrook Sale | Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire

Lot 6

1994 Nissan 300 ZX Twin-Turbo

Estimated at £10,000 - £12,000

Lot details

Registration No: L75 PGW
Chassis No: JN10RGZ32U0010940
MOT: September 2025

  • Desirable UK market car and among the last to be registered
  • Treated to much mechanical and cosmetic work in recent years including a brake system overhaul, refurbished alloy wheels, localised paint correction, cambelt change, service and check over by Performance Auto Works LLP
  • Targa roof, black leather upholstery, heated seats, cruise control etc

Named as CAR & DRIVER magazine's 'sports car of the year' a record seven times between 1990 and 1996, the 300ZX was a world away from its boulevardier predecessor in terms of style and performance. Boasting an admirably low 0.31cd and impressive torsional rigidity, its monocoque shell was fitted with all-round independent double-wishbone suspension (near identical in layout and execution to that found on the contemporary Skyline GTR), HICAS (speed sensitive four-wheel steering) and ABS disc brakes. Powered by a 24-valve DOHC 2960cc V6 engine in both normally aspirated and turbocharged guises, the Z32 (as it was known internally) proved to be a seriously fast car. Indeed, the force-fed variant with 300bhp and 283lb-ft of torque at its disposal was found capable of 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and 165mph by Motor Trend magazine. Memorably described by the late Russell Bulgin as being a half-way house between Porsche's 928 and 959 models the technology / cost intensive 300 ZX eventually fell victim to its parent company's accounts department.

First registered as ‘L75 PGW’ in May 1994, the same year that Nissan stopped officially importing the 300ZX to the UK, this particular example belonged to its last owner for sixteen years. Reportedly kept garaged during that time, the 2+2-seater was treated to a brake overhaul (rejuvenated callipers, new discs / pads) and refurbished alloy wheels not long before the vendor acquired it. Entrusted to JDM specialist Performance Auto Works LLP for a check over since then (£418), the Nissan has also benefited from a service and cambelt change (£800) and some paint correction (c.£700). A desirable ‘twin turbo’ model, the 300ZX passed its last two MOT tests with ‘no advisories’. Pleasingly retaining the original covers for its targa roof panels, ‘L75 PGW’ is equipped with the responsive four-speed automatic transmission and is said to be ‘a very nice example which drives extremely well’. Offered for sale with a good history file, Kenwood stereo and tool kit.
