1929 Swift 10hp 3P Tourer

The British Swift concern manufactured motorcars in Coventry from 1900 to 1931. Up to 1907 they were powered by proprietary engines from De Dion Bouton etc, but Swift then began making its own powerplants to the design of Works Engineer William Radford. Following WWI, the range was slimmed down to three models, namely the 1100cc 10hp the 2000cc 12hp and 3000cc 15hp. Arguably the zenith of Swift 10hp evolution, the 3P retained the marque's traditional radiator design and fixed starting handle but boasted such niceties as a four-speed manual gearbox and four-wheel drum brakes not to mention an enlarged 1190cc engine.
Finished in Cream with Black wings and Brown leather upholstery, this particular example - a 3P Tourer - was manufactured in 1929. Since entering the current ownership during 2006 the Swift is understood to have been treated to some £2,000 worth of expenditure including a respray and new hood; it has also benefited from a fluid service and an MOT that remains valid into August 2013. The vendor currently describes the four-seater as a "nice, honest, usable vintage Tourer" and is selling it complete with instruction manual, VSCC papers and a variety of unspecified spares (including an engine) that can be collected from Oxfordshire by the successful bidder.
