Lot details Registration No: J812XFS Chassis No: WPOZZZ96ZMS452106 Mot Expiry: Jan 2004
Historically, the most important Porsche model has been the 1964 introduced 911, which was to remain in production in much the same form for the next 30 years, albeit progressively updated and modified. With basically similar layout to the 356, the new 911 was built on a steel platform chassis with suspension by torsion bars. Macpherson struts at the front and trailing arms at the rear. The first version of the 911 was powered by a 2-litre flat-6 with 5-speed gearbox first used on the competition 904.
The 1982 model year saw the release of the first genuine cabriolet version of the 911 since the 356 drophead. From 1984, the capacity of the legendary, horizontally-opposed, air-cooled 6-cylinder engine was increased from 3-litres to a 3.2 and the SC 911 became the 911 Carrera. The 1989 launched Carrera 2, and Carrera 4 with permanent 4WD, were powered by a new larger, 247bhp 3.6 flat-6. ZF Tiptronic automatic transmission with additional manual-shift became available as an option on the Carrera 2.
On offer here is a 1991-built C2 convertible with Tiptronic. The very high Singapore market spec, therefore an original right-hand drive car, includes Cup wheels and mirrors, air-conditioning, electrically-operated leather-trimmed seats and power-top. After a claimed to be 35,000 total mileage, the front discs have been renewed, and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and CD player fitted. In black with black interior, this open Porsche with power-operated hood really does look the business.
