The news of the successor to Ferrari's 275 GTB/4 was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1968. The 365 GTB/4 'Daytona' was immediately declared a worthy successor, entering full production in the latter half of the following year. Its aggressive stance with its elongated bonnet and stubby tail dynamically accentuated the obvious power lurking under its bonnet - all 352bhp of it. Ferrari had created a winner, not only on the street but capable of great impact on the race circuits of Europe and North America.
The Daytona was built in classic Ferrari style; a V-12 4-cam, dry sump engine sat low in an oval-tube chassis featuring all-independent wishbone and coil-spring suspension - a development from the preceding 275GTB. A 5-speed transaxle contributed to the ultimate 50/50 front to rear weight distribution, offering the full use of the Daytona's awesome power output. Power steering was not considered an option in the design of this ultimate sportscar but power-assisted, ventilated disc brakes were deemed an absolute necessity to retard the Daytona's impressive 170+ mph potential.
The stunning example on offer today is in truly concours condition, with just 53,000 miles having been covered from new and backed by a full history file which contains all bills relating to the car's impressive service history. Refreshingly finished in dark metallic blue with an unmarked tan hide interior, we are not just looking at a fine example of one of Ferrari's most aggressively styled sportscars - we are, in fact, looking at one of the best available in today's market.
Please note: This vehicle now comes with an MOT certificate.
