Apart from the limousine so beloved of town halls and undertakers, all Daimlers since the early 1960s have been variants on successive models from marque owners Jaguar. For the Daimler version of the Jag V12-engined XJ, the Double Six name was revived 1973-1992, most being 4-door saloons, though 2-door coupes were made at Browns Lane 1975-1977.
The Cheshire vendor of this 1977-manufactured Daimler tells us that his Double Six has been in one family ownership for the past seventeen years and has always been garaged during that time. The 44,963 miles on the odometer when entered for this auction is claimed to be the total mileage for the car from new.
We are also told that the car has been dry stored for nine years during its life which may have contributed to the bodywork and green sand paintwork being in the excellent original condition claimed. The interior trimmed in dark green is said to be very good, too, and both the 5343cc 12-cylinder engine and 3-speed automatic transmission are reportedly in good order.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
