Lot details Registration No: BD 1942 Frame No: 213325 Engine No: 24474 cc: 499 MOT Expiry Date: None
Triumph began motorcycle manufacture in 1902, using a Minerva engine from Belgium, but success was such that within a few years the Coventry firm was producing its own power units. The 3.5 hp model first appeared in 1907 with a 453cc engine but this was steadily refined through the 476cc version of 1908 to the 499cc of 1910. By the time the splendid example offered here was produced the model had achieved 'definitive' status.
This machine has benefitted from being cosseted, although unused, throughout the current ownership and we believe that it comes to the sale with its Pioneer dating certificate, making it the perfect mount for the prestigious Pioneer Run. It's wicker work sidecar is believed to be both original and to have always been 'paired' with this attractive and useable Veteran machine and the three speed hub gear and clutch is coupled to the hand change mechanism.
It is very attractively finished in Black with a Silver tank and this is a highly desirable machine that would grace any collection.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
