Tiga Race Cars was formed in the UK in 1974 by a pair of former F1 drivers - Australian Tim Schenken and New Zealander Howden Ganley. The company name was an amalgam of Tim and Ganley. By the time the firm closed its doors 15 years later nearly 400 chassis had been constructed for a wide range of formulae, including: Formula Ford, Formula Ford 2000, Formula Atlantic/Pacific, Thundersports, Can-Am, Sports 2000, Formula K, IMSA and Group C. Victories were achieved in numerous series and individual events and many of the cars built by Tiga continue to provide good service today.

The yellow Tiga on sale is a 1978 Formula Ford 2000. Its most recent owner bought it in Belgium in 2008 where it had remained in the same hands for many years, and raced with success across Europe. The engine was reputedly overhauled before the last purchase and has only been used on a few test days since. The car is understood to be eligible for the increasingly popular Historic FF2000 Championship, which this year boasts rounds at the Oulton Park Gold Cup meeting, on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit and various tracks abroad. It should also be accepted for the URS Classic Formula Ford 2000 Championship. The vendor claims the Tiga has "excellent" bodywork, paintwork, engine and transmission, while the interior trim and electrical equipment are deemed to be "very good". It comes complete with an FIA Historic Technical Passport and a spare set of wheels shod with wet weather tyres. A covered trailer is available by separate negotiation. With historic motorsport still growing throughout Europe, there is strong demand for sound, reliable cars accompanied by the right paperwork; racers that are eligible for one or more of the many popular series currently being organised. Good Tigas tend to tick all the boxes and this nicely presented Formula Ford could well be racing gain very soon.
