Lot details Registration No: HON633D Chassis No: 110F-133-1475 Mot Expiry: May 2004
Following the success of his Project 100, which resulted in the 4-seater with rear-mounted, water-cooled 4-cylinder, 633cc engined Fiat 600 going into production from 1955, Dante Giacosa unveiled his Project 110 in 1957. Giacosa's 'new' Fiat 500 had air-cooled, horizontally-opposed, parallel-twin cylinder motor in the back. 500 Sport and 500 Giardiniera versions were added to the 500 range in 1960, although the station wagon was farmed out to sub-contractors Autobianchi from 1968. Then, from 1965, the 500 became the 500F and this model was manufactured until 1972 when it was replaced by the 500R.
The vendor of the 1966-built Fiat 500F being auctioned here tells us that his characterful little lefthand drive saloon was first registered in this country in March 2002. He says that it is in lovely condition, takes up very little room and drives very well. The 2-door body and blue paintwork as well as the red interior are said to be in excellent condition, whilst the 500cc 2-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in good order.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
