On offer here is a rare 1959-built Osca with Pininfarina coupe body that was acquired by the vendor's father in 1996 when a four year restoration commenced. A conversion from left to the current righthand drive was carried out, although all the original LHD parts have been retained and are included. The fixed head bodywork was stripped right back to metal, repaired where necessary and repainted silver in 1997. Panels and paintwork, as well as black leather seats and trim, grey carpets and black carpeting to boot area are all said to be currently excellent. Borrani wires with steel centres and alloy rims shod with 165 x 15 Pirellis are fitted.
The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder twin cam motor, engineered by the Maserati Bros who traded as Osca, has been rebuilt with pistons, bearings, oil seals and gaskets renewed, and is fed by a Weber 28/36 carb. Rolling road power charts should be in the history file. A stainless steel exhaust and new alloy fuel tank have been fitted.
The gearbox is from a Fiat 125 and is a 5-speed unit, which was deemed better for cruising, though the original 4-speed box is available. Novel in 1959 were disc brakes all round, rebuilt with overhauled calipers, hydraulic hoses and pipework renewed. The suspension has also been rebuilt.
Since refurbishment, the car has won several awards and has featured in Auto Italia magazine.
