Lot details Registration No: BSK 588 Chassis No: 834211 DN Mot Expiry: June 2003
The XK150 3.4 left-hand drive fixed head coupe left the Browns Lane works, Coventry, July 1957, being shipped to Jaguar Cars, New York. It did not return to the UK until 1989, passing to Robinson and Godwin of Grimsby for a total restoration completed 1991.
Derbyshire specialist Derek Watson carried out further work in 1999, when the bodywork was stripped back to bare metal and repainted in the current white, the brakes were extensively overhauled, and new petrol tank and Kenlow fan fitted.
The documents folder contains bills detailing the over £30,000 spent on all the restoration work done to this car as well as various photos from 1991.
The Derbyshire owner tells us that he has successfully completed two recent journeys to Switzerland and back in the car without any problems, where it won first prize (along with a Spitfire!) at the Cartier Polo Weekend. In fact, so reliable has it proved to be, it has been in near daily use since coming into what has been one family ownership in 1989.
Chassis, bodywork, white paint and red interior are said to be in very good condition, whilst the 3.4 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission are both reportedly in good order. Included are a tailor-made Jaguar works car cover (in a bag) as well as a reprinted handbook and full tool kit including wire wheel hammer. Clearly a very well cared for, fully working 150.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
