Lot details Registration No: BXV 214 Chassis No: 31789 Mot Expiry: Dec 2001
BXV 214 is a 17 hp sports foursome saloon which was supplied on the 24th May 1935 to the Armstrong Siddeley main agents Mack & Walpound and registered in London for a Mr J.T. Yates and eventually found its way to Ireland where it was bought by the son of Armstrong Siddeley's Belfast agent a Mr. Wiley.
In the early 1980's a full body-off restoration was started and this progressed until the ash frame was fully restored and the car was mechanically reassembled. At this stage Michael Wiley was unable to complete the restoration for personal reasons and it was sold to the present owner in 1992. During the last eight years the restoration has been completed to its present lovely condition and full details of the restoration can be found in the history file in the documentation office.
This lovely example, with the Burlington coachwork, is believed to be the nicest of those remaining and we are informed that it handles and brakes extremely well. It maintains a comfortable 60mph cruising speed using the pre-select four-speed gearbox and the mileage of 63,000 miles is believed to be genuine from new.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
