Lot 35 - 1985 Caterham Seven Supersprint

1985 Caterham Seven Supersprint

Sold for £7,425

(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: A17 KAR
Chassis No: K530018R
Mot Expiry: July 2004

Seven production was transferred from Lotus to Caterham Cars for good in May 1973, Caterham initially making the S4, but soon making the more purist S3 again with Ford 1300 or 1600, or Lotus Big Valve Twin Cam engine options. Vegantune Twin Cams were fitted from 1981, although the majority of Caterhams in those pre-Rover engine supplier days had modified Ford engines being either the 110hhp Sprint or 135bhp Supersprint. De Dion rear suspension became available from 1985.
Offered here is a 1985-manufactured Seven, a Supersprint with the preferred long cockpit, fitted with a Roger King prepared 150bhp engine, rebuilt not that long ago, connected to a Graham Sykes gearbox and a Quaife limited slip differential. Also fitted are increased capacity radiator, Vecta immobiliser, adjustable seats in black cloth, 4-point seat harnesses, heater and electrically heated front screen and 13inch diameter Superlight alloy wheels shod with Yokohama 021s. The history file is extensive, the car having been regularly serviced, whilst the condition throughout is described as being good.
The 39,000 miles displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total for the sportscar from new and the MOT test pass is current until July. Complete with the more desirable De Dion rear suspension, this Seven also has the benefit of a 'Prisoner' TV series KAR registration. Caterhams like this really are enormous fun. Power to weight ratio is awesome.
