Founded in January 1957 by Peter Pellandine, Falcon began life as one of the myriad of British manufacturers who before the advent of VAT produced exotic looking glass-fibre bodyshells based upon rather more prosaic mechanicals. The first Falcon, retrospectively known as the MK1, was a bodyshell brought by Pellandine from Ashley Laminates mounted onto a swb Austin Seven chassis. The MK 2 introduced more or less concurrently featured a more curvaceous sports racer bodyshell suitable for mounting on a chassis ranging in size from 6' 11" to 7' 8". With unusual hinge-down doors the striking looking shell gained an optional factory hardtop from September 1957 and in its day was considered to be one of the better finished specials. Further models were produced and by 1961 Falcon were producing their own space-frame chassis based around Len Terry's 1172 Formula Terrier special. Later frames built by the Progress Chassis Co had all round coil suspension (independent at the front) and by 1963 Falcon were ready to produce their own series-produced car on this chassis in the strikingly attractive shape of the 515 designed by Brazilian T. Rohonyl, using Ford Classic mechanicals. Only 25 were built however, mostly as kits, before the firm closed when Pellandine suffered major injuries in a road accident whilst driving a 515.

The example we have for sale here today is a very rare Falcon Mk2 complete with the even rarer factory option hardtop. Although very little was known about this car at the time of going to press save for the fact that it had been used only as a race car it is believed that it may be based on a Ford front beam axle chassis. Requiring full restoration the bodyshell appears complete with the remains of a dashboard and front seats. Originally red but repainted purple at some stage this challenging project deserves to be taken on so as to preserve an example of this seldom seen good looking British 'special'. Please note that this car does not have a V5.

PLEASE NOTE: The trailer is not included with the sale of this vehicle.
