One of Harley-Davidson’s most popular and longest-lived models, the Sportster was introduced in 1957 as a relatively lightweight alternative to the larger Harleys, but still powered by huge V-twins of 883cc up to 1,200cc. Equipped with the venerable Ironhead engine until 1985, the Evolution took over in 1986, notably featuring alloy heads. In 1991, a five-speed transmission replaced the four-speed and the 883 Deluxe and 1200 models moved to belt-drive instead of chain. Sportsters remain in production to this day, with regular updates ensuring their continued success.

This 883cc Sportster from 1992 is an outstanding survivor, having been a static display object for almost its whole life. With the first registered keeper believed to be the dealer, we understand it was sold in 1992 to a Mrs. Hart, who rode it barely ever, if it all. It remained in the same ownership until early 2024, when the new owner MOTed it at 785 miles before selling it the present owner a few months later. Recommissioning was completed in May, 2025, by Rev’s Hog Motorcycles and it now appears for sale in exceptionally original condition with just 862 recorded miles. We are advised that it runs well and all components work, and cosmetically it appears almost showroom-fresh. It is supplied with the current V5C, owner’s manual, parts book and recommissioning invoice.
