Introduced in 1992, the Aprilia RS125 allowed racing enthusiasts to get their hands on a near-replica of Aprilia’s successful lightweight Grand Prix bikes to enjoy on the road. Prior to 2013, the RS125 was powered by a 124.8cc Rotax single-cylinder two-stroke with an aluminium cylinder block and liquid cooling. While there was little cause for mechanical changes, the model receiving occasional styling revisions. With a six-speed transmission and a wet weight of just 302lbs, the 28bhp engine was capable of propelling the RS125 to some quite thrilling speeds.
This 2000 RS125 is truly extraordinary, with just 89 miles recorded. First registered to Tonymoto Motorcycles of Chandler’s Ford, Hampshire, on 1st September, 2000, the Aprilia was sold to Mr. Shaun Johnson a month later on 4th October. Electing simply to admire and preserve, Mr. Johnson, we understand, kept on his display in his house and did not ride it, hence it survives in thoroughly original and almost showroom-fresh condition. Correct to factory specification, this is possibly the best historic RS125 in existence. Although there is no documentary evidence to support the mileage being genuine, the fact the bike has never been MOTed would suggest it is. A magnificent opportunity for collectors, it is sold with the current V5C and the service book.
