The 2.8-litre 150bhp XR4i version of the Sierra first hit the streets in the spring of 1983. We hear from the vendor of this example of the classic Ford that A99 KWL was last owned for 19 years and has been exhibited at various shows as well as being featured in the December 2002 issue of Classic Cars in an article entitled "Power to the People".
The righthand drive sports saloon is claimed currently to be in excellent condition throughout with 2-door bodywork, red paintwork and grey interior all said to be very good, and the fuel-injected 6-cylinder motor and 5-speed manual gearbox also reportedly in very good order. The 77,000 miles displayed when entered for the sale is believed by the entrant to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new, whilst the MOT in the documents file is current until September.
The XR4i was always severely underrated. For apart from being extremely rapid and clinging to the road like a limpet, parts availability is good and value for money is exceptional.
