MOT: January 2026
Produced from 1997 to 2005, the BMW K1200RS was a high-performance, long-distance sports-touring motorcycle that featured many of BMW’s signature characteristics such as Telelever front suspension, Paralever rear suspension and shaft-drive, along with the final evolution of the powerful water-cooled inline four affectionately known as the ‘Flying Brick’. With a displacement of 1,171cc, it was mated to a six-speed transmission and produced a quoted 130bhp. The frame was aluminium and integrated ABS was a novel feature for the time.
This 2004 K1200RS was kept in annual use until 2020, after which it has been intermittently off the road, though it was very much roadworthy at the time we inspected it and is complete with an MOT until January, 2026. We believe it to be in good overall mechanical condition, as it has covered only around 33,415 miles from new. A new battery has just been installed, although the vendor advises that the ignition switch requires replacing. The BMW has been mildly customised with a matt black paint finish, so the new owner is faced with the choice of restoring it to standard, customising it further or enjoying it just as it is. The current V5C is supplied. Please note that it has been recorded as a Category N insurance loss (non-structural/cosmetic) due to vandalism (damaged ignition switch).
