Introduced as a sportier and more youthful follow-on to the Triumph 3TA Twenty-One, the 350cc Tiger 90 was launched in September, 1962, for the 1963 model year. Instead of the large “bathtub” rear fairing and chunky “Roman helmet” front mudguard of the Twenty-One, which were not well-received by the American market, the Tiger 90 appeared with the skimpier “bikini” fairing and an open-sided mudguard, though even the bikini fairing was abandoned in 1964. The Tiger 90 thus became something of a baby Bonneville, with similar styling, and remained in production until 1968. Twelve-volt electrics became a feature in 1966. Owing to its popularity in Britain and America, the Tiger 90 and other C-range Triumphs are extremely well-catered for with spares and specialist support, making them a genuinely practical classic bike.

This 1968 Tiger 90 appeared in a very impressive state of originality, with an attractive light patina across its surface. The vendor advises that it is running very well, so we think its ideal for continued preservation and enjoyment as an “oily rag” machine. It is supplied with the current V5C and some old MOT certificates.
