Mot Expiry: April 2014

Ford's immortal first generation Mustang debuted at the New York World's Fair of 1964. It was styled in house under the direction of Joe Oros and utilised as many components as possible from the existing Falcon and Fairlane models, in order to minimise cost. The Fastback option appeared in 1965, with the model's first significant facelift following in 1967. This was an altogether bigger motorcar, featuring additional passenger and luggage space. The 1969 version was bigger still, the stand out model from which was the Mach 1, an overtly performance version that was only available in so-called Sportsroof (Fastback) form.

According to its accompanying Deluxe Marti Report, chassis 9T02H185415 was built at Metuchen, New Jersey as a Mach I complete with 351-2V V8 engine, Cruise-O-Matic transmission, power steering and power front disc brakes. Supplied new via Wantagh Auto Sales of New York, the Sportsroof was subsequently registered in California before being imported to the UK during 2006. Entering the current ownership that same year, `BWA 691G' is said to have been "extensively modernised whilst retaining the classic Mustang body lines". The car's many improvements reportedly include: distinctive `Shaker' bonnet, Edelbrock cylinder heads, racing carburettor, general engine tuning, rear roll cage, uprated seats, remote locking and an uprated sound system with CD player. Finished in Black with Black upholstery, this most eye-catching of pony cars is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its bodywork, interior trim, 5.7 litre V8 engine and automatic transmission, while he rates the paintwork as "excellent". Aside from the aforementioned Deluxe Marti Report, the Ford is accompanied by a reproduction owner's manual, Haynes maintenance book, catalogue of Mustang ID numbers (1964-1997), an MOT valid until April 2014 and historic class (free) road fund licence to the end of August 2014.
