Lot details Registration No: T.B.A. Chassis No: R4DCYAL214316 Mot Expiry: July 2004
Here is a possibly unique example of the Lotus-engined Talbot Sunbeam '3-door' hot hatch, clearly well looked after and only fair-weather driven by the last owner-driver for 16 years. Unlike so many, this one has never been rallied or raced and was given a major refurbishment four years ago. The panels are claimed to be original and were found to be rust-free when given a bare metal respray in model-correct black and silver livery to concours standard above, inside and underneath! The bodyshell has been waxoyled, with even the propshaft and rear axle casing enamelled.
Mechanically, the car is said to be A1 throughout and capable of 140mph. The 2174cc engine runs on unleaded, the 5-speed close-ratio gearbox is by ZF, the back end has a limited slip diff, the brakes have been uprated to ventilated discs with 4-pot calipers and a superb MkII interior fitted with Recaro front seats in black leather. It is claimed to drive as well as it looks and has to be one of the best examples to come to market.
Please note: This vehicle has an MOT until July 2004.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
