At first look the Suzuki TS 250, in its original production form, would seem a most unlikely candidate for conversion to a road racing machine. ''A very good motorcycle - except when it went off road'' said the Motorcycle Sport test rider in a contemporary review. Not a very good recommendation for what was promoted by Suzuki as a trail bike, but was only styled thus, being actually a very good roadster. The knowledgeable soon saw the potential in a machine which, even in its latest 1973 form, was available for only £392, more than £100 less than similar bikes on the market. One of those in the know was London dealer Vic Camp who converted a number of these bikes into a series of racers and the machine on sale here today may be one of those.
Still complete with its original 250cc. single cylinder 2 stroke six speed power unit and matching frame, with a race licence from the FRC this unregistered classic racer looks to be original and unrestored. Reported to have been last used in 1997 but still to turn over freely with good compression plus visible sparks this machine should, with a comprehensive recommissioning program, provide an enthusiastic new owner with hours of pleasure during the summer season.
