The origin of the Bultaco motorcycle company dates from 1958 when Francesc "Paco" Bultó, who at the time was a director of the Montesa motorcycle company decided to branch out on his own. The new company's name came from combining the first four letters of Sr. Bultó's surname with the last three of his nickname "Paco". Although they made road and racing machines, the company had its greatest success with off-road bikes such as the Pursang for motocross, the Matador for enduros and perhaps the most famous Bultaco model of all, the Sherpa trials bikes that revolutionised the sport in the 1960s and 1970s.
In the midst of Bultaco’s financial crisis that eventually led to its closure, the new Sherpa T was presented at the 1981 Barcelona Motor Show. Equipped with a new six-speed gearbox and a chassis trimmed to lose weight, it was a replica of the prototype developed by Yrjö Vesterinen during the 1981 season with heavier flywheels to compete with the 4 strokes. It was the last version of the Sherpa T and marked the final step in the development of the most celebrated trials bike of all time, having dominated the discipline for more than fifteen years. One of the most noticeable features of the bike was its white frame, which is why it became known as “the white one”. The engine was rebuilt a couple of years ago by renowned Bultaco expert Mick Danby and has only been used a couple of times since, last run 12 months ago it will need some recommissioning before use. A rare and collectible bike, being the ultimate final edition of the classic Sherpa range and one of the last bikes produced by the original Bultaco factory, it will be supplied with a current V5C.
