The larger engined TV200 quickly followed the TV175 slim style in early 1963 at the specific request of the British importer Lambretta Concessionaires who wanted an even more powerful model than the TV175 to satisfy their customer base. Genuine TV200 Lambrettas were instantly recognised as the GT200 to differentiate them from the TV175 models.
Presented here is a very unique TV200 customisation. Our vendor is a very particular collector and has commissioned all of his scooters to the highest possible specification. One thing unusual is that he despite his love for Lambrettas he has never had a license to ride and therefore all of his scooters are virtually unused. This scooter was sourced by, and the complete customisation was entrusted to Chris King of Classic Lambrettas, Nottingham who were well known for high end spec restorations.
Owned since 2010 our vendor immediately embarked on a no-expenses-spared customisation of magnitude. The engine was increased to 225cc with enhanced carburettor and Sterling exhaust. We also note reverse-pull front performance disc brake, adjustable rear shock and standard type front dampers. Spoked front hub and the tyres are high end Continental white walls. The electrics have been converted to 12V utilising a Mitsubhi system.
One needs to study the pictures to see the huge amount of detail that has been entered onto this scooter. Presenting itself extremely well the paint is in a two tone combination with bronze pin stripe and pearlescent small glitter metal flake in the darker colour. The metalwork all over is professionally bronze dipped and applies to so many items on the scooter too numerous to list. Close examination of the photographs reveals the bronze on all badges, crash bars engine casing, wheels even the floor end caps and much more. This also includes the lights which all work. The seat, spare wheel cover and back rest cover were all custom made and are in superb condition. The scooter has rarely been used as we believe that the 35 miles since this restoration was done is genuine and only used for MOT visits. Supplied with a British Lambretta archive dating letter and MOTs that support the mileage. It is priced with an auction estimate of a fraction of the cost to have commissioned. We were able to see the scooter running and it started easily and sounded in superb and of course ‘as new’ mechanical condition as can be seen by the accompanying video.
