An ideal bike either for "oily rag" treatment or cosmetic refurbishment
Triumph is one of the most iconic and revered names in the history of motorcycling. Established in Coventry in 1885, by the start of the 1900s the company had made their first motorcycle beginning a continuous run of production under various ownership until its eventual closure in 1983. In 1937 the Edward Turner-designed Speed Twin was released launching a range of Triumph twins that went on to epitomise British motorcycles in the post-war years. Many believe the T120 Bonneville, first seen in late 1958, to be the ultimate version of the classic British vertical twin and is now one of the most sought-after bikes of the era. The T120’s 650cc engine was derived from the Tiger T110’s, but with twin Amal carburettors and a high-performance camshaft as standard.
Despite having been restored in the past, this 1961 T120 Bonneville was only discovered earlier this year having disappeared from view for several years. In the following months, it was very sympathetically recommissioned and is now said to be running well. It has acquired a very attractive patina which makes it an ideal candidate for the “oily rag” treatment, or it could be treated to a cosmetic restoration if preferred. The current V5C is supplied.
