The Vespa P range was launched in 1977 in Milan as the nuova linea model (new line), featuring an aluminium head and an improved back axle and front suspension compared with previous models. With a newly designed and more angular chassis than its predecessors, it gained integral indicators, electronic ignition and a much larger headlight than the Rally, which it superseded. Several versions came and went and upgrades over the years included 12-volt electronics, automatic fuel mixing, lockable side panels and disc brakes. Preserving the appeal of the classic scooters of the 1960s, it remained enormously popular for over 40 years, but sadly emissions regulations spelt the end of the PX’s venerable two-stroke, and production was forced to end in 2017.
This c.2017 PX150 is quite extraordinary, being one of the last classic Vespas ever made and yet still, practically speaking, a brand-new machine. With only two delivery miles on the odometer, it is preserved very much as it was when it left the factory, and despite never being ridden it was registered in Britain in December, 2018. Thus preserved, it is an ideal for further preservation as a collector’s piece, or use and enjoyment as Vespa intended.
