Michio Suzuki started manufacturing silk looms in 1909. However, when the textile industry hit hard times in 1952, Suzuki went into making the Power Free, a 36cc 2-stroke engine that could be simply fitted to a bicycle frame, a 60cc Diamond Free add-on power pack for bicycles following a year later and their first 90cc Colleda motorcycle coming to market in 1954.
On offer here is a 1980-manufactured Suzuki Monkey Bike, with extremely economical 49cc single cylinder motor, which is believed to have seen service in the Channel Islands, though this was clearly minimal as, when entered for this sale, the total mileage displayed had only risen to 4200 miles. Not only could this nifty little machine be an ideal means of paddock transport for the historic racer who must have every type of goody in his toy cupboard - but, with a tax disc only costing £15 per year, this could also be a great way to defeat Red Ken Livingston's London Congestion Charge!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
