Lot details Registration No: YRA175L Chassis No: 2222224759 Mot Expiry: None
Purchased new by the mother of the vendor through local VW Agents Links right here in Buxton, and maintained by them and a former mechanic of theirs, A Marchington, for many years, this Volkswagen Type 2 Microbus was converted by Camper-Van specialists Danbury when new in1972 and has remained in same family ownership ever since. Always garaged throughout its life, though last taxed in 2000 and MOT’d until July of that year, and therefore not driven on the road since then, the total mileage reads a genuine 83,577 miles from new.
Although the vendor admits that the bodywork is now in need of some restoration and the Sierra Yellow/White paint has become patchy, he tells us that the 1584cc four cylinder engine, which was renewed at 18,169 miles apparently, runs very well and that both transmission and electrics are satisfactory. Having been manufactured in 1972 and therefore officially recognised as an Historic Vehicle, this Danbury coachbuilt on a VW chassis is eligible for an FOC Tax Disc.
To include original Owners Manual and 1972-79 VW Service record - not to forget gas cooker and kitchen sink - this one family owned from new Camper Van is being auctioned entirely ‘Without Reserve’. Just the thing for Historic Race circuit paddock or Rally Service Area hospitality or overnight accommodation, it might even make a Road Fund Licence Disc free tow vehicle for your classic!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
