Triumph introduced the first "competition" version of the Tiger Cub for the 1958 season when the T20C became available. The new model featured lowered gearing, an upswept exhaust system with a Trophy style silencer, narrow mudguards accommodating larger diameter wheels and a crankcase shield. Unfortunately the new model retained the standard, weak front fork, headlamp nacelle and the standard swinging arm that precluded the fitment of a four inch section trials rear tyre. It did however; offer riders a basis that could be developed. The activities of the Triumph competition department and the modifications made by private owners resulted in two new competition models becoming available between 1960 and 1961. The first was the T20S aimed at the scrambles and American enduro market and the T20T, designed as a section trials motorcycle. The T20T, like the T20S, featured an energy transfer ignition system with provision for a stop light circuit in addition to the lighting coils. Heavier forks and a wide ratio gearbox were employed although a 3.50 inch section rear tyre remained. This model, despite being a significant improvement over its predecessor lasted little more than a season before being replaced by the TR20 model that finally introduced the larger section rear tyre.

The machine offered was first registered on the 1st November 1960 in Sheffield and has had only four owners from new. An example of the rare T20T competition model with matching numbers, it is described as being in good condition throughout mechanically with original black and silver paintwork. A Swansea V5C is included with the motorcycle.
