James announced a two machine range with the end of hostilities in 1945 consisting of an auto-cycle and a civilian version of the wartime ML or "Clockwork Mouse" lightweight replacing this model in 1949 with a new range of lightweight motorcycles headed by 197cc Villiers 6E powered de luxe Captain. The new model was equipped with a rigid frame fitted with telescopic forks. This model was joined in 1950 by a plunger sprung variant the pair continuing in largely the same form until 1954 when a new Captain, retaining the 197cc capacity but now fitted with Villiers 8E engine, joined the range. The new machine was equipped with a pivoted fork frame, the suspension units for which, like the telescopic forks, were built by James. The new machine, coded the K7, benefited from revised styling with a matching toolbox and battery box being fitted under the nose of the standard dualseat was joined by the K7C Cotswold scrambler and K7T trials model. The latter adopted a sprung saddle and aluminium mudguards.
The machine offered is fitted with alloy trials mudguards, the tubular toolbox and single sprung saddle. It is described as being in good condition throughout, regularly being used for short runs and to attend rallies. A Swansea V5C accompanies the machine.
