Lot 94 - 1947 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan

1947 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan

Estimated at £9,000 - £11,000

Lot details
Registration No: Un-Reg
Chassis No: T4401227
Mot Expiry: None

Although at first glance similar to their 1946 brethren, the 1947 model-year Cadillacs were distinguished by a revised grille (with five as opposed to six horizontal bars), stainless rear wing stone guards, new badges / scripts and 'Sombrero' hubcaps. A modular design available in various wheelbase lengths, their cruciform-braced ladder-frame chassis featured independent coil-and-wishbone front suspension, a semi-elliptic leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Powered by a 346ci (5.7litre) sidevalve V8 engine developing some 150bhp @ 3,600rpm, the vast majority (95%) of 1947 model-year Cadillacs were ordered with Hydra-Matic transmission. Reputedly capable of over 100mph, they proved some of the fastest, glitziest and most comfortable cars to hit American roads that year.
Finished in pale grey with brown fabric upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (interior trim, bodywork, paintwork) or "very good" (engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, chassis, wheels / tyres) condition. Reportedly "an original two-owner California car" that did not leave 'The Golden State' until being shipped to the UK two years ago, the Cadillac is believed but not warranted to have covered just 38,000 miles from new. Apparently treated to a respray and re-trim some twelve years ago, it is claimed to be "mechanically 100%" and to retain "its 6-volt battery". Yet to be MOT tested or UK registered, it is only being offered for sale due to the seller's overseas commitments.

PLEASE NOTE: We have not had this vehicle running.
