Kempton Park Racecourse

Lot 902

Lot 902 - American Nascar

American Nascar

Estimated at £6,000 - £10,000

Lot details

Designed and built in keeping with the Kindred Race Team theme of high profile film cars, this unique American NASCAR replica is nearly 10 feet long and replicates the Tom Cruise racecar from the film "Days of Thunder". The body was made in America and painted by PPG of Indy Car fame at a cost of over 10,000 pounds, its outer skin being adorned with a paint costing over 600 pounds per litre which changes to 16 different colours as the car moves along. This beautifully finished exterior took more than 3 weeks to perfect in a very special £3m paint shop and is finished off to perfection with the additions of a big bore chrome exhaust, rear spoiler and American style number plates.

The whole vehicle has been designed around a low slung, rigid rear end live axle chassis, with hydraulically damped rubber in compression front independent suspension and hydraulically damped rack and pinion steering. The design and construction of the front suspension system incorporates fully adjustable ride height, castor and camber angles.

6 inch pneumatic racing slick tyres surmount lightweight 4 pin steel wheels mounted on light alloy roller bearing hubs. The wheels are covered with gold alloy trims and quick release centre spinners with black TSW badges.

In the interests of safety the vehicle features an omni-directional impact full crush zone body/chassis, complete with an inbuilt back to front steel engine reinforcement bar and an anti-intrusion system, together with a full alloy fire wall between the driver and rear power unit. The fully adjustable black faux leather race seat will accommodate an adult frame and is fitted with full harness seat belts together with a safety cell reinforced rubber lined cockpit.

This high specification vehicle is fitted with a turnkey 12-volt electric start and full emergency 'one touch kill' safety system. Rubber isolated engine mountings with a torque stabilizer unit are employed to mount the high revving Japanese 300cc Kubota engine, which is fitted with an electronic engine control system and pumped fuel supply. The power unit employs its own integral air-cooling but sits within an electrically forced air fan cooled engine bay. The 2 pedal control drivetrain employs a fully variable automatic transmission, via an American Comet torque converter, with adjustable clutch take up / engine R.P.M. factors and a variable ratio chain drive counter shaft assembly to a live rear axle.
