With radical 2-door 2+2 coupe body, the 1985-launched XT was a departure for hitherto agricultural Subaru. Beneath the sporting bodywork, floorpan, engine and transmission were carried over from the 1800. With turbocharged 134bhp flat-four engine, an XT was good for 125mph.
With high ground clearance affecting handling on tarmac, the car's traditional Subaru saloon's origins made it uncompetitive in the Supra and RX7 dominated marketplace. A 150bhp 2567cc engine boosted go, but it was only when the motor was enlarged to a 3.3 with twin overhead camshafts and 24 valves were employed for the SVX Turbo replacement that the model really took off. 24,000 of these 144mph GTs with permanent four-wheel drive were produced 1991-1997.
Offered here is a 1996-built, twin-turbo SVX coupe, fully loaded with all the factory-fit goodies such as 4-speed auto, air-con and cruise-control. The history file is described as good, as is the overall condition, whilst the flat-six motor is said to be in very good order. The 63,000 miles indicated when entered is believed to be the genuine total.
