Testing the market with a concept version at the 1989 Japanese Show, Nissan finally hit the Tokyo streets in 1991 with their retro-styled Figaro coupe, one of their `Pike Series' which included Be-1, Pao and S-Cargo van.
The nostalgic look is accentuated by lots of chrome. The 987cc turbocharged engine produces 76bhp at the front wheels and there is a three-speed auto. Creature comforts include CD, air-con, all-white leather and canvas roll-down top.
Only producing 20,000, Nissan were so swamped with orders they did not have enough to go round so had to operate a lottery allocation system. In recent years, the Figaro has also become fashionable on this side of the world.
This 1991 right-hand drive example with a believed by the vendor to be genuine total of 63,765 kilometres on the clock has been part of a collection and has appeared in photo shoots and TV commercials. Two-door bodywork and grey paintwork is said to be good with leather, engine, transmission and electrics reportedly all very good.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
