Now state owned, Renault was once led by one of the industry's strongest autocrats Louis Renault whose first design appeared in 1898 and by 1913 the firm was responsible for around 20% of the entire French car production.
Practically all Edwardian cars are extremely pretty because there are lots of brass fitments and other nice finishing touches which the motoring industry has long since forgotten - bloody cupholders. Renault cars were also enhanced by the lovely sloping bonnet and this particular example is an extremely rare open drive limousine which the experts have advised us dates from 1920. They also confirm that it is in fact a model EU and we are informed by the owner that it is in very good condition throughout and has a concealed 12 volt starter/dynamo.
We are informed that it is believed to have spent its early life in New York, but unfortunately the car comes with very little history but this is a wonderful period piece which looks to be correct in every detail and we are sure would grace any collection.
Please note: The estimate on this car has been altered and it also has a current MOT certificate until February next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
