Henry Ford rescued Lincoln from receivership in 1922 to give him an instant luxury car division which would complement his rather basic by comparison Model T model. With Henry's son Edsel in charge as Lincoln President, prices were instantly slashed and sales more than doubled in the first year. By 1923, Lincoln was making a profit, the fortunes of the marque being greatly enhanced when Calvin Coolidge became the first of many US Presidents to become a Lincoln owner.
In 1931, the L was replaced by the K with same 6306cc V8 fitted to a lower and longer chassis frame. During 1932, the KB was offered with 7340cc V12 and synchromesh on the upper two ratios. For 1933, the V8 was dropped and two V12s offered, 6255cc for the KA or 7340cc for the KB. A new 6784cc 12-cylinder motor with aluminum heads powered all 1934 cars.
The London owner of the 1934-made Lincoln KB with Brunn of Buffalo built coachwork offered says the Sedanca Limo was purchased in Japan, where it was restored ten years ago. It is believed, though not confirmed, that this imposing machine, which has been painted burgundy with driver's compartment trimmed in black and posh folks' quarters in beige, was owned by the Far East conquering US General Douglas MacArthur. Both paintwork and trim are said to be in excellent condition, and the V12 motor and 3-speed gearbox reportedly in good order.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
