Lot details Registration No: UN-REG Chassis No: LML5096 Mot Expiry: None
This DB2 left the Feltham works and was supplied to A V Intern Voorschoten for the first Dutch owner in 1952, since when it has always been resident in Holland and Belgium. Following acquisition from a Mr Defoux of Profoneville in 1998, the current Belgian owner drove the fixed head coupe on the 2000 Mille Miglia retrospective. The chassis and engine numbers are claimed to be 'matching', while the registration currently on the car is Belgian.
According to the vendor, a clearly comprehensive refurbishment of the major mechanical componentry was carried out between August 1998 and May 1999. The engine was upgraded from 2.6 to 3-litres with new steel crankshaft, bearing shells, pistons, Carillo connecting rods and electronic ignition employed during the build. The rear axle was completely checked out, too, with half shafts renewed and limited slip differential fitted. The 4-speed manual gearbox, rear hubs, springs front and rear, brake master cylinder and drum brake shoes, steering and electric items were all removed and completely overhauled with new parts fitted where necessary, such as steering rockershaft and Dayton wire wheels. Special fog lights were deployed for the front and rear.
The Frank Feeley styled aluminium bodywork today is described as damage-free with nice paintwork in blue, blue leather within original though old, and engine and transmission said to be perfect. This DB2 coming under our hammer today represents an unrepeatable opportunity for the next owner.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
