Lot details Registration No: JSV 795 Chassis No: GT K3 Mot Expiry: None
David Kelsey is a significant man in motor sport history, as he was responsible via his company, The Progress Chassis Co, for building the complex multi-tube frame for the budding and struggling Lotus engineering company. This would of course be the chassis for the Lotus Mk VI.
This Kelsey Coupe was found recently and has a two seater sports coupe body by Williams & Pritchard and was built sometime between 1955 and 1961. It is chassis number K3 but Mr. Kelsey suggests that this would be the first car because he always started at number 3 so as to suggest he had done two previously. It was campaigned briefly in 1961 with an 1172cc engine with the Willment ohv conversion and we are treating this car as more of a prototype than as a special.
In need of restoration, we believe this could be a very significant car for the future at the most significant historic meetings.
Please note that DVLA have now confirmed that the original registration will be re-allocated to the vehicle and with the cars documentation there is a letter to confirm this.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
