It was in 1982 that racing driver and engineer Chris Smith designed and built an evocation of the Lotus Eleven Le Mans car, and was immediately inundated with requests from those wanting replicas. By the following Easter Westfield Sportscars had been created and has been producing both factory-built and kit cars ever since. Most prominent among them is the Lotus Seven-inspired SE that has been crafted to accept numerous powerplants over the years; the most famous derivative being the Rover V8-powered SEiGHT. The not dissimilar-looking SEi can be achieved using either a Mazda MX5 or Ford Sierra donor vehicle, and the 'as-new-looking' 2003 sale car is one of the latter.

It is finished in Yellow, trimmed in Black vinyl and powered by a 1993cc Ford Pinto engine sporting a pair of 45DCOE Weber carburettors. The car's impressive specification includes a Ford five-speed manual gearbox, disc brakes all round, a Laserline immobiliser and a set of OZ alloy wheels. Described by the vendor as "beautifully made" and having "excellent" bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, engine and transmission, 'BX53 BBU' has covered just 1,600 miles since the build was finished and is now seemingly ready to provide a new owner with endless hours of fun. It comes complete with large history file and an MOT into May 2013.
